Debt recovery claims
COSTS
Where your claim is in relation to an unpaid invoice, we will agree an initial fee with you for reviewing any documents and correspondence and writing an initial letter before action.
Costs vary from case to case, depending on the complexity of the matter and the number of documents that need to be reviewed. On average our costs are as follows: –
• Taking instructions and writing letter before action £500.00-£1000.00 (excluding VAT).
• Issue of proceedings (if not contested) £2000.00- £3000.00 (excluding VAT).
• If proceedings are issued and are contested, then we will set out our costs more fully to you at that stage.
• Our firms charging out rates for all of the above is £195.00 plus vat per hour
SERVICES
The services included in the above prices include taking initial instructions, opening a file, writing a letter before action, and all steps necessary to issue proceedings to include attendances, preparation, correspondence, emails and telephone calls as necessary from time to time.
If the debt is not paid the cost will include drafting and issuing the claim; when no acknowledgment of service or defence is received applying to the court to enter judgement in default; when default is received to writing to the defendant to request payment and if payment is not received within the required number of days, we will provide you with advice on the next steps and the likely costs.
TIME SCALE
Claims that are not disputed are generally resolved within 6-8 weeks. If court proceedings are necessary and the matter is contested, then cases can take up to 2 years to resolve.
